The quaich (pronounced quake) has been an important part of Celtic ceremony for hundreds of years. Early on, in a much larger size, it was used by clan and tribal leaders to seal agreements and mark important ceremonies, such as treaties, betrothals, and marriages. These baby quaiches are now used at christening ceremonies to pour water over the baby’s head. In long-lasting pewter, these pieces become keepsakes and family heirlooms for generations to come. Here you will find quaiches with the sentiment “New Birth” inscribed in the bottom of the cup in Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish – and if you’re not Celtic – in English. These are made in the Celtic border lands of Wales and Cornwall; are hard to find; and we have limited quantities.
